Baking and Sharing
When: February 18, 9:30 am
Cost: $Free
My New Year's resolution was to find a way to combine my love of baking and my desire to give back to the community. So I have decided to have a BAKING AND SHARING DAY on Saturday Feb 18th. I am hoping to have 5-6 people in the morning from 9:30-12:30 and 5-6 people in the afternoon from 1:00-4:00. I will have some "stations" set up in both the house and the cottage. People will bake bread, cookies, Mac and Cheese etc. They will help with the dishwashing and packaging the goodies. At the end of the day, we will take the baked goods to one or more needy families. I am asking that people sign up so I know how many to expect and how to organize the day. There will be a break for lunch. People can bring a bag lunch if they want. During lunch you will be free to take a walk in the woods or around the property or just enjoy sitting by the fire. During the day we will brainstorm to see if there is a way to do the BAKING AND SHARING DAY more often and how it would best serve people in our community. If you are interested in participating in this special day, please let me know by contacting me at neal@detourfarm.com. I'm excited about all the possibilities that may arise!
Baguettes and More
When: March 3, 9:30 am
Cost: $60
Spend an early spring morning learning a unique way to make delicious french baguettes. You will learn the method developed by well known french baker, Richard Bertinet. Recently I was fortunate enough to attend an intensive week long course In England with Richard. You won't believe how it works. You will have lots of fun learning to mix and shape baguettes, fougasse and braids. You will leave with several freshly baked baguettes and other interestingly shaped breads! What a perfect way to spend a fall morning! The class includes a light lunch and a glass of wine to be enjoyed on the front porch or by the fire.
Easter Breads

It will be fun to learn to braid the Challah and decorate the Hot Cross Buns. Class includes coffee and biscotti, a light lunch with a glass of wine and lots of bread to take home and share with your friends and family.
