Alpacas
Neal thinks of her alpacas as her “practice horses.” Before she became a farm girl, Neal cared for a few house pets but had no experience with livestock. She gravitated to alpacas—perfect baby boomer livestock. They’re irresistibly cute, furry animals that never challenge fences, don’t eat much, rarely make any noise, and, best of all, stand in line to poop on the communal poop pile. If you’re interested in learning more about alpacas, get in touch with Neal. Many of her alpacas are for sale to good homes.
Our guests love visiting with the alpacas and watching them bound around in the pasture below the house. The baby alpacas are particularly cute—looking for all the world like stuffed animals come to life.
There are many great alpaca owners, but Neal's favorite farm is Stonyridge Alpacas, which is owned by Linda and Wayne Buttolph. They sold her her first alpacas and have continued to be mentors and friends.
